Wallets
A wallet is the financial heart of your product. It's a secure, real-money account that lets your customers receive funds, hold a balance, make payments, and spend — all through your own branded experience, powered by Vrtx infrastructure.
You don't build the ledger, the compliance layer, or the banking connections. You build the experience. Vrtx handles everything underneath.
Receive funds
Top-ups via bank transfer, payroll deposits, or inbound payments from other wallets.
Hold a balance
Real-time balances, strictly separated from platform funds and fully auditable.
Spend & transfer
Link to a Visa card, send to a bank account via SARIE, or transfer between wallets.
Control & configure
Set spending limits, transaction controls, and program rules per wallet type.
What makes a Vrtx wallet different
Every wallet on the Vrtx platform is backed by a core ledger engine. That means every dirham is accounted for in real time — no reconciliation gaps, no unexplained discrepancies, and a complete audit trail from source to destination.
SAMA compliant by default
All wallets are issued and operated under a SAMA-regulated framework via Vrtx's sponsor bank partnership with ANB. Your customers are covered. Your business is covered.
Wallets also come KYC-ready. Before a wallet is activated, the customer has already passed through the Vrtx Onboarding Engine — identity verified via Nafath, mobile ownership confirmed via Yakeen Lite, and screened against both local and international sanctions lists. You don't need to think about any of that.
What you can build with wallets
Wallets are the foundation. Everything else — cards, payouts, transactions — sits on top of them. Here are the two core configurations:
Closed-loop wallet
Funds stay within your platform ecosystem. Customers receive, hold, and spend — but only within your product. Ideal for loyalty programs, corporate expense management, and rewards-based platforms.
Open-loop wallet
Fully connected to the wider financial system. Customers can receive funds from any bank, spend via a Visa card anywhere, and send money to external accounts via SARIE. Ideal for gig worker apps, payroll platforms, and consumer fintech.
Why building this yourself is the wrong move
A wallet sounds simple. In practice, launching one from scratch means:
12+ integrations
KYC, sanctions screening, ledger, card processor, clearing network, AML monitoring — each a separate contract and technical integration.
6–12 months
That's the realistic timeline for a team building compliant wallet infrastructure in KSA without an infrastructure partner.
Ongoing compliance burden
SAMA regulations evolve. Every update is your team's problem — unless you're building on Vrtx, where compliance updates are handled at the infrastructure level.
Launch a wallet product in weeks, not months. No banking license required. No compliance team needed on day one. Vrtx is the regulated infrastructure layer — you bring the product vision.
